Research Activity (follow link)

Guido Giuliani has carried out theoretical and experimental research in the field of optoelectronics and photonics.
In the recent years he has been Principal Investigator for several
research projects, totalling more than 500kfundings in the last four years

Main research topics:

·        Semiconductor integrated ring lasers for applications as ultrafast all-optical memories and gyroscopes

·        RF/mm-wave generation with optoelectronic techniques

·        Effects of backreflections into semiconductor laser cavity and their applications to remote sensing

·        Semiconductor laser interferometry and sensing

·        Optical amplifier noise and noise in optical communications

·        Modelling of semiconductor optical amplifiers

·        Measurement techniques for the linewidth enhancement factor of semiconductor lasers (collaboration with COST 288 - Round-Robin measurements)

Since 1995 he has been teaching blackboard and laboratory/experimental tutorials at the Engineering faculties of Università di Pavia, Pavia, Italy and Università di Bergamo, Bergamo, Italy.
Tutorial courses taught:
- Electronic instrumentation and measurements
- Electronics I (basic course)
- Optoelectronics I
- Optoelectronics II
Since 2004 has been teaching a
course in Experimental Optoelectronics for Electronic Engineering students at Università di Pavia, Pavia, Italy
He has also been invited to give lectures at:
- Collegio Ghislieri, Pavia, Italy (three lectures on "Optoelectronics and fiber-optic telecommunications", 1998)
IUSS, Istituto Universitario di Studi Superiori, , Italy (lectures on Semiconductor Lasers and Optical Amplifiers, within the Master Course in Material Sciences 2001-2008)

Guido Giuliani is member of IEEE and LEOS.
