Objectives

The PhD course in Electronic, Computer and Electrical Engineering (IEIE) is activated within the School of Advanced Doctoral Education (SAFD) at the University of Pavia (http://phd.unipv.it/).

The IEIE PhD course aims to train researchers with advanced methodological and technical knowledge, through the practice of scientific research at national and international level in leading sectors of Engineering.

The course is organised into three main curricula:

- PHOTONICS AND SPATIAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS

- COMPUTER AND AUTOMATION

- INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING

The PhD activity is supported by professors and researchers of the Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering of the University of Pavia. PhD students carry out an original and scientifically relevant research project, within a departmental laboratory, in close collaboration with one of the Department research groups. The research activity of the PhD student is then reported in a final thesis that is evaluated by a dedicated Board.

A period of stay in a research laboratory abroad, for at least three months, with an activity program approved by the Academic Board, is strongly recommended to all PhD students. The vast network of international collaborations of the research groups involved in the Doctorate allows us to count on strict collaborations with international Universities and Research institutions.
